چکیده

Methods and material Twenty-four participants (mean age 21.8 yrs ± 3.5 yrs, height 1.75 m ± 0.09 m and body mass 71.0 kg ± 10.6 kg) were recruited. A marker set consisting of 20 x 10 mm markers was developed to track in-shoe joint kinematics [1]. Reliability and accuracy estimates of calibration marker placement on the shoe were determined. To track inshoe foot motion, 12 mm diameter holes were punched in the shoe upper, with 25 mm marker wands mounted on the skin through the shoe (Figure 1). The marker set defined a four-segment kinematic model of the foot and ankle (shank, hindfoot, midfoot-forefoot complex and hallux). To define model parameters and moments of inertia, a CT scan was taken of 12 participant’s feet. The reconstruction of 3-D bone geometries from two-dimensional grey scale images (DICOM format) was conducted in Simpleware software. Shoe-mounted marker offsets and moments of inertia were inputted to Visual3D. The kinematics of the shoe were described before and after modification to quantify post-modification shoe integrity. The model was deemed sensitive if it detected changes in joint kinematics between conditions that were both statistically significant and greater than the calculated Standard Error of Measurement (SEM) [2].

The development of a gait shoe for multi-segment foot motion analysis

Multi-segment kinematic foot models quantify foot motion in normal and pathological gait in mainly barefoot assessments, as shoes may confound the marker sets. The aim of this study was to provide a gait shoe to accommodate a multi-segment foot marker set without compromising shoe function. Fifteen normal volunteers and 15 patients with mechanical midfoot pain were recruited. All 30 participant...

The reliability, accuracy and minimal detectable difference of a multi-segment kinematic model of the foot-shoe complex.

Kinematic models are commonly used to quantify foot and ankle kinematics, yet no marker sets or models have been proven reliable or accurate when wearing shoes. Further, the minimal detectable difference of a developed model is often not reported. We present a kinematic model that is reliable, accurate and sensitive to describe the kinematics of the foot-shoe complex and lower leg during walkin...

The feasibility of a modified shoe for multi-segment foot motion analysis: a preliminary study

BACKGROUND The majority of multi-segment kinematic foot studies have been limited to barefoot conditions, because shod conditions have the potential for confounding surface-mounted markers. The aim of this study was to investigate whether a shoe modified with a webbed upper can accommodate multi-segment foot marker sets without compromising kinematic measurements under barefoot and shod conditi...

The effect of unstable Shoe on shoe sole pressure during walking among healthy male students.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of unstable shoes on the sole of the shoes pressure of walking in healthy male students with different geometric shapes. Today, various shoes have been developed to reduce the effects of injury parameters and improve performance parameters for walking.  Methods: 20 of the healthy male lambs were selected 178.96 ± 3.92 cm, 27 ± 3 years...

The Effect of Long-Term Use of Motion Control Shoes on the Ground Reaction Force Components during Running in Runners with Excessive Pronated Feet

Introduction: Most of the functional disorders in the foot are created by changes in the arch of the foot. The motion control shoes are designed to control the excessive rear foot motions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of long-term use of motion control shoe on the ground reaction force components in individuals with functional pronated feet during running. Methods: The prese...
